Our little troublemaker, SHADOW.

Today, our worst nightmare came true. Our handsome shadow passed away. The tears will not stop flowing. People think they are just dogs. They are not...they are family! This dog was into everything! There were so many times when I thought I would scream. He would eat my roses..or any flowers I planted! He would dig holes in all my rocks along the side of the house that took me hours to design! I would fill them in...the next day, his holes were back! I quickly learned to give up! My honeymoon pictures, are filled with bruises and cuts all over my legs from him! Even though, he was a crazy dog, he was just a loving pet. He loved his treats, and all the human food I would gladly give to him! He would sneak into our house but, that's because he just wanted to be with his family. He loved to bite my elbows if I wasn't giving him the attention that he wanted while I gardened! He had a look on his face that I would call a smile. In his earlier days, he would stand up on his hind legs and watch me wash the windows...his face was even with MINE!! =) Shadow was Christopher's dog for over 15 years. He is a wreck tonight. As Annie said perfectly, you want to get into a fetal position and cry. The worst part is the images of my boys asking yesterday to give him bones. As they go outside and call him...he would not come. We figured it was because he could not hear and he was probably on the side of the house. When I opened the shades this morning, I realized he was not in his bed for the second morning. He LOVES his bed. I felt something was wrong but...you just think it won't happen. The boys ask again today to give him the 2 bones...he still would not come. Brandon investigated and found him on the side of the house, no longer with us in spirit. Christopher and I did not want to leave his side. He looked like he was sleeping...so peacefully. The memories of Shadow will be cherished among this family forever!
